Food Service in Disaster Areas

Service Image

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality provides hot meals and food packages in areas affected by natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, and fires. Depending on the scale of the disaster, fully equipped mobile kitchen trucks are set up in isolated areas, while high-capacity field kitchens are established for disasters spread over large areas to meet the need for hot meals and clean water. The main purpose of the service is to ensure the uninterrupted nutritional needs of citizens and search and rescue teams in the post-disaster period.

All citizens affected by the disaster, search and rescue teams and field personnel working in the region can benefit from this service.

  1. Alarm: Upon the issuance of a disaster or emergency alarm, a state of alert is declared.
  2. Deployment: Depending on the magnitude of the disaster, a mobile kitchen vehicle or field kitchen equipment is deployed at the most reliable and accessible location.
  3. Distribution: Hot meals, food packages, and water are distributed to citizens in the disaster area.
  4. Continuity: The service continues until life in the region returns to normal.

Note: In case of disaster or emergency, our teams, which are on alert, are in contact with our Disaster Coordination Center without the need for any application and initiate the necessary process.
